WHAT TYPE OF CLIENTS DOES MILE 27 WORK WITH?
We work with any client, regardless of ability, who want to challenge themselves to run an ultra- whether thats a 50km race, a 100 mile mountain race, a 24 hour track race or an epic 1000km+ FKT. This includes first timers, those looking to improve their times or increase their distance and those working towards a podium finish. We have international level clients on the books as well as runners who are happy to simply finish.
IF I DON’T LIVE IN AUSTRALIA CAN I STILL BE COACHED?
Absolutely. Mile 27 has clients in locations ranging far and wide – from Iceland to Tahiti, the Middle East, Europe and the USA, and of course Australia. As long as you have internet access then you an be coached.
WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?
Payment is made through a bank transfer or via Paypal.
DO YOU USE SPECIFIC TRAINING SOFTWARE?
Yes we deliver programs through Training Peaks. The free version is sufficient for coaching.
DO I HAVE TO USE TRAINING SOFTWARE
No, although highly recommended. Feeedback is essential to maximise the benefits of your training program. If you prefer not to use training software an excel spreadsheet can be set up for you or you can simply send an email each week summarising your training.
DOES THE TRAINING WEEK RUN FROM MONDAY TO SUNDAY?
No – each client’s program will be written on a specific day and the program will cover the next 7 days. So if your program is written on a Tuesday then it will cover training from Wednesday to the following Tuesday.
WILL A PROGRAM BY MILE 27 BE SPECIFIC NOT ONLY TO MY GOALS, BUT TO THE AVAILABLE TIME I HAVE DURING THE WEEK ?
Definitely, all programs are written uniquely for the individual. We tailor your program around your training time, goals, current fitness strengths and weaknesses.
AM I LIMITED TO HOW OFTEN I CAN ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT MY TRAINING PROGRAM?
No – you have unlimited access to ask as many questions as you want. Email is the preferred method of communication although phone calls or Skype chats can be arranged.
HOW IS THE RUN WITH POWER OPTION DIFFERENT ?
For run with power you use a Stryd power meter which allows us to prescribe and review training with much greater accuracy .
DO I STILL HAVE TO PAY IF I CAN’T TRAIN FOR A WEEK?
Generally yes – the most common reasons for missing training are injury and you will be advised on how to manage the injury and what other training you can do during that time. If however there is a very good reason why you can’t train and I can’t provide any assistance then a suspension in the fee can be arranged.
IS ADVICE ON NUTRITION INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
Yes, discussion and recommendations on diet in racing, training and general diet is included. However we are not trained nutritionists so if you need advice on specific micronutrients then please seek professional advice.
IS THERE A MINIMUM COMMITMENT?
Yes, twelve weeks is the normal minimum period. For shorter periods please contact Andy to discuss.
CAN I TAKE A BREAK AFTER A MAJOR EVENT AND RESUME TRAINING AT A LATER DATE?
Yes you can but coaching places are very limited so a deposit may be required to secure your spot.
I DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO A GYM CAN I STILL DO THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING EXERCISES?
Yes. The only equipment you may need is a small weight of 2-3kg and a step. The exercises rely on body weight and movement rather than machines to load the body.
