The Mile 27 Coaching System
01
We begin with a detailed questionnaire to understand your goals, training history, injuries, nutrition, environment, and available training time.
02
Your previous training and upcoming races are analysed to identify the specific demands you need to prepare for.
03
A personalised training plan delivered via TrainingPeaks, designed around your lifestyle, fitness level, and race goals.
04
All training sessions are reviewed, with feedback provided and adjustments made to keep your training progressing effectively.
05
Ongoing and flexible, primarily via messaging. Support is available when it’s most useful — not just on a fixed weekly call. Video calls used when needed.
06
We plan your race calendar to ensure the right balance between training, racing, and recovery.
07
We help you develop confidence, decision-making, and resilience for training and racing.
08
Guidance on fuelling strategies for both training and racing, with referrals to specialists if needed.
09
Before key races, we develop clear strategies covering pacing, terrain, nutrition, and execution.
10
After each race, we review your performance to identify what worked and where improvements can be made.
Performance Tools
Head Coach Andy was among the first to apply power-based training to trail and ultra running — working directly with Stryd to solve the specific challenges terrain creates. His input contributed to how trail runs are now analysed within the platform, and how power is applied across the demands of ultra distance.
Power data allows training intensity to be prescribed with a precision that pace and heart rate rarely offer on variable trail terrain — particularly valuable in races where conditions change dramatically.
Athletes use a range of devices including footpods and watch-based power. Power is one tool within the system, not a requirement.
Available to all athletes
Available as an additional performance component for athletes working directly with Head Coach Andy.
Each athlete completes a video-based assessment to evaluate running biomechanics. From this, we develop an individualised program focused on improving durability, efficiency, and injury resistance.
Programs are built around dynamic, run-specific exercises requiring minimal equipment — structured to complement your training load, not compete with it.
